The first season IPL champions Rajasthan Royals had a pathetic performance in this year’s Indian Premier League. They have lost just six of their last 14 league games and finished last in the points table. It was mainly the poor performance of the bowling line-up that knocked Rajasthan out this time.
With the exception of Joffre Archer, all the bowlers failed miserably and their bowling line-up was very weak. For this reason, the Rajasthan Royals are likely to make a big splash ahead of next season’s Indian Premier League. Most importantly, they will try to avoid the current bowling line-up.
Right-arm pacer Ankit Rajput is one of the most likely players to be left out of the Rajasthan Royals squad ahead of next season. Having taken just 2 wickets in 6 matches this time, he was not stingy in conceding runs. Like Rajput, Varun Aaron, and Jaidev Unadkat, who have weakened the Rajasthan Royals bowling this time around, may have to leave the team next season.
Aaron, who conceded 94 runs in 11.75 economies, has taken just one wicket in three matches this season. Jaidev Unadkat, on the other hand, has been playing for Rajasthan for the last few seasons. Unadkat, who took just four wickets in seven matches in the 2020 season, was instrumental in Rajasthan’s victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore. With his defeat this season too, it is almost certain that Unadkat will be dropped from the Rajasthan team.
